Almost there …

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when my cloth goes wonky since I don’t measure anything except the height of each patch (1” for the black and white patches, 1.75” for the colorful patches) …

So it is what it is and this patchplay needs only two more headings for May and June up top and a strip of black and white patches along the right hand edge. Then I’ll let it rest until I decide whether to continue with the rest of the year or back the cloth as is. I’m good with it either way.

Backstories

As I arranged the patches into chronological order for the first seven months of 2021, it occurred to me that I could cut them in half …

So I did. Then seamed them together in such a way that half are upside down and half are right side up, because that’s what came into my head …

And while I stitched the long seams, I thought about our recent trip to New Mexico. So many pictures and so much to tell. Which made me think I’ll probably want to make patches about those golden days … maybe even decide to complete all of Remember 2021 rather than just part of it. We’ll see. For now, it has become a good size cloth for putting over the back of a chair.

A sense of overwhelm

I am full to overflowing after our third journey to New Mexico. It will surely take a fair bit of time to tell it all here, but suffice it to say we hope go back someday …

In the meantime, I’ve decided to complete some unfinished projects, the better to clear the deck so I can get started on E’s coverlet.

And so, Remember 2021 will be retitled Remember (some of) 2021, as it will only cover January through July.

Next, I will finish putting Moon Myth together.

Then I plan to repurpose The Land as the Crow Flies as couch cushion backings.

And I am waaaay overdue on adding Parker and Ellis to the family sampler.

Ha! I wonder if I’ll ever get back to My Heart’s Compass?

Stay tuned …
