Yesterday I finished stitching the small cloths to the flannel …

then turned it over to the b-side …

The spiral made my day …

stitched freehand, the only guide being my “rule of thumb” …

I woke up this morning thinking, “now what?” And found an answer over at Spirit Cloth, that led to this “eureka moment” on paper …

I’m ready to go now.
Yay for the inspiration, Jude is such a treasure!

Oh Liz – they re such wonderful moments! Like a flood light illuminates a dark space and you can suddenly see it all and make sense of those blurred outlines and shapes in your mind. So happy for you – just love it! And of course, the stitching is sublime and that is a very special thumb you have right there.

that, too was an “aha!” moment … realizing that I can keep my lines of stitch 7/8″ apart by sighting along my thumb!

that’s quite a treasure map you have created on paper!

a wild and crazy mash-up of thoughts, for sure … and then I printed a copy to draw on and have already changed my mind about the foot of the cloth … such fun!

There is a sense of Baba Yaga magic going on over there! I will always be in awe of your straight even tidy stitching.

I had to look up Baba Yaga and now I’m intrigued …
and I have been spectacularly unsuccessful at random stitching … always I get lost and fall into an unconscious rhythm … not complaining, just saying

I’m with Hazel. Just amazed always at the evenness is your stitch. The road map looks a little like a weather map showing bad storms ahead. Look forward to seeing how it goes.

It’s been a long time since I visited any of my blog friends or blogged myself, but today I focused on you Liz for motivation. I must have gone back thru your posts for a good month, and it was such a treat to see all your collages which are terrific by the way (you have such an innate sense of design), but what I’m super excited about is your large whole cloth quilt. Wow! Fantastic placement of all the smaller pieces, it already has such a pleasant sense of balance. And your stitching is masterful. I will be checking in more regularly to see your progress. Sending you lots of hugs!
