I scream, you scream …

June 23-24, 2021

I used to tell Don we shouldn’t take our grandkids out for ice cream … Every. Single. Time.

But honestly, can you ever have too much ice cream?

These days I just say “yes, please” …

and so do they …

Process notes:

The Buda Soda Fountain lettering was penned on the “right side” of the cloth, but then stitched on the other side …

And I wasn’t at all sure I could replicate the epic sundaes that Jackson and Jace were eating, but I found some long-lost rust dyeing that filled the bill.

What’s black and white …

and read all over?

July 28-29, 2021

Mammogram and bone density screening at age 65 … what could go wrong, right? Honestly, I expected bad news, so I was more than happy to find out that the mammogram is clear and my osteoporosis has been downgraded to osteopenia, which is all …

July 28, 2021 – Black and white

And the good news continued with this missive from the Fiber Artists in San Antonio …

And now I’m looking forward to seeing how well the typewriter ribbon ink holds up on cloth, because I can see how that might could tie in to this workshop (yep, I got one of the remaining five spots).

The good news continued during our weekly visit with Parker, who likes to pick out her milk cup to accompany a rainbow dinner …

It all got eaten, which means there was ice cream for dessert, too!

Betcha can’t guess

June 21-22, 2021

Some things are worth repeating. Back in 2010 I wrote a post about my favorite salad and dressing. It still is, and since the vinaigrette is all about proportions, I decided to create a memory patch in its honor …

June 21, 2021 – Trellis vinaigrette

Since there were just two of us and I didn’t need leftovers, I squeezed just half a lemon. Counting that as one part, I added one part apple cider vinegar, three parts safflower oil and a generous dollop of Grey Poupon Dijon mustard, all chased by a three finger pinch of salt. And per Marti’s comment below, a squirt of agave nectar is also a good addition.

Yum!

And since I am a grandmother of boys, I have come to know the Under Armor logo on sight. Better yet, it was spotted not just at the dino park …

but also at Urban Air …

P.S. I also love that it reminds me of the St Louis Gateway Arch.
