I have loved Sandra Boynton’s wonderful sense of humor ever since I first encountered her greeting cards when I was in college nearly half a century ago (and here I pause to wonder “How is that possible?”)
The first of those cards is still around to this very day in the form of a jigsaw puzzle …

I’m also extremely fond of her whimsical and extremely readable board books for grandparents (ahem … I mean grandchildren of course) …
And most recently, her calendar for 2021, of which I bought two: one for my almost-17 granddaughter and one for me (see above). I check it each morning at breakfast to be sure I don’t miss anything …

Last, but not least, I follow Sandra Boynton on Instagram. Which is how I happened on this gem yesterday …

Which just happened to be reiterated by another favorite Instagram-er …

What a hoot!

Sandra Boynton has been a favorite over our way too. I’d forgotten about that card…oh how we thought it was so clever! My big grandson was a fan of her books, big time and I always have a few at work who fall in love too. Cute owl and good memories 🙂

You did a Superb job on your owl, I knew it was a Boynton at first glance! We’re fans, too, especially when the boys were young. “Hippos Go Berserk!” was our favorite book, and the CDs got us through many a car ride- “Philadelphia Chickens” the most… I still sing “Cows, we’re remarkable cows…” whenever we spot one in a field, and once rewrote it for a plays about owls… Lots of fond memories, thanks.

Read Sandra Boynton’s Belly Button book so many times to my grandchildren, when they were little that my grandson was shocked to learn when he turned 3 that his belly button was called belly button and not Beebo! The grands helped me “draw” some of the hippos on a poster that was put up in their shared room for a few years…wonderful books and drawings.

I loved her in my youth – she somehow spoke to the odd little me and others. Your owl is fabulous and I am sure you will smile each time you look at it. I had no idea there was a calendar; and now I know where ice cream for breakfast comes from!

So long ago I had an apron with one of her iconic cats playing a ukulele. “I like mousies, yes I do. Boiled, broiled, or in a stew!” They never liked my cooking.

gosh. throughout my early 20’s as an academic admin. asst. my mug was a Boynton gem of kitties with mugs that said coffee coffee coffee coffee SLEEP. It broke just a year or two ago. I actively mourned the end of everything it represented …
