I love that Wendy MacNaughton’s #drawtogethercamp had an episode on how to make a Black Lives Matter poster …

Just in time for Juneteenth, an official Texas state holiday, during which our neighborhood will hold a car parade …

in recognition of the local Antioch Colony.
I will post more pictures later, as the parade will pass in front of our home …

The parade was too long to post in its entirety, but here’s a small clip …
Love our new hometown.
Addendum:
Stills from my comment about our state rep …

Can’t wait to see! I love how you can use these shrubs in your new place as signposts for others to see!

B – marching in the streets doesn’t seem wise these days so it felt good to do something that was health-safe

Our Texas House representative was in the parade in her bright yellow car with BLM on the side … she had a clip on her Facebook page as the parade was forming: one of the young men who was shot in the jaw by “non-lethal” gunfire during the recent Austin protests … thankfully he is recovering well enough to be standing tall in the back of a pickup truck, but another young man is still in critical condition with a brain injury … it is no wonder that there are calls for major reform in the Austin Police Department
The Buda city manager (who is Black) and police chief (who is not) released a joint statement about community policing and they were very much involved in this parade … a good sign, but a quick google search revealed excessive force videos of the local police from three years ago … I am thankful that there is movement in the right direction for all of us who have been privileged, but we have a long, long way to go
