Unprompted

April 15, 2021 – Acey’s fire

I love Acey’s prompts, so I was sure I’d love to do this one …

But the yardwork, which I love, pulled me outside instead. Ah well.

Even though I didn’t follow through, I decided to hold the thought for another day. So here’s the image from Acey’s other blog

that seemed a good one to stitch …

House building

April 13, 2021 – Blueprint

Jude has been posting a series of house cloths of late that she is calling Just Home.

Inspired as always, I sketched a note to self, thinking I might try paper piecing a patch…

but as I sketched, adding lines to each side of the iconic square-and-triangle house in the middle, the house grew first one side and then another. Totally improbable, of course, but I fancied myself Escher-ish and went with it.

And the paper piecing? Quickly abandoned as I realized ten pieces within a 1 3/4 inch patch was a bit much.

So I dug out a thrift store linen dress with a weave that looks like graph paper and transferred the sketch, which was stitched with Deb’s threads (what else?)

Christmas?! (revised)

April 11, 2021 – The Book of Pebbles (revised)
April 11, 2021 – The Book of Pebbles

This recent Dilbert strip definitely rang a bell …

I don’t order stuff every day, but when I do, I rarely recall what I’ve ordered when the package arrives.

It’s like Christmas all year long.

A recent gift to self was a sweet little book about collecting rocks … or pebbles as the UK folks call them …

I was delighted to find that a bit of Deb Lacativa Fat Baggies cloth had floated to the top of my scrap basket, last used years ago for the Moon Myth project (which is still not stitched together) …

I also found the remaining bit of Inktense paintbrush rag to be simpatico (yep, that’s how it’s spelled) …

And note to Nancy: the author and illustrator of this book are inveterate collectors who bring their pebbles home 😉
