Superb Owl Sunday

I love Sandra Boynton’s Super Bowl owls so much that I stitched a patch of one in 2021 …

Fast forward to the here and now … I’m in the process for attaching the red moon cabin block to My Heart’s Compass

After pinning it to the flannel, I used two strands of Deb Lacativa’s floss to “quilt” it … working out from the middle …

and close-up …

Turning the corner

So, that problem corner on the left … originally intended to be the first of a series of “windows” that moved from light to dark … until I changed my mind and all of a sudden the light had no context or continuity with the dark blue windows that followed …

So today I started stitching around a red Glennis moon …

that reminded me of the rising sun and new moon of my Moon Myth …

And I started by surrounding the rising sun/new moon pair with dark gray early morning sky (the quarter being a 1” scale of sorts) …

followed by shards of early morning light in the form of deconstructed rows of patches from what was originally intended to be a rising sun …

As I stitched I thought of the sunset corner of My Heart’s Compass

and I think that may be where I’m heading with this opposite corner …

There will be more design mending to come.
