Simple pleasures

Like joining the crowd when it comes to sharing views of Deb’s threads

And finding that one-in-a-hundred Instagram reel that triggers an “I’ve gotta try that” response … this video made in reaction to the question “do you know the right way to use a bubble wand?” …

And for those who can’t see the video, dip the wand in the bubble juice, lift it halfway up and blow … repeat endlessly (or until you hyperventilate as I did) …

Not to mention the pleasure of adding a leaf to the dining room table in celebration of completing one end of the table cloth …

only to discover that the base cloth isn’t quite as long as I thought …

But hey, that just means I get to work on it a little bit longer than expected … which is all good, right?

Liminal (with addendum)

I took notes …

And in a last minute flash of inspiration, I made a video (we were in our daughter’s backyard), but WordPress doesn’t like that it’s 4 minutes long. So here are screenshots of the endarkenment followed by the return of the light …

Fortunately, the Owl Cam at the Wildflower Center also caught the eclipse on video.

And our daughter went to our grandkids’ elementary school to experience the eclipse in community …

Addendum: Here’s a picture 4-year-old Ellis drew after learning our sun is a star and then going outside to view the eclipse …

Endarkenment

We were fortunate to experience a total eclipse in 2017 when we just happened to be in St Louis … but it wasn’t planned and we didn’t have the special glasses

We were much better prepared for the annular eclipse last October, which we experienced with our Austin grandkids

Two days later I was lucky enough to spot this little gem of a painting on Instagram, which I gifted to Don last Christmas …

It was painted en plein aire by local artist Gena Destri, who graciously offered to sell it to me after I sent her a DM …

And now, our third eclipse in seven years looks like it will be clouded, but we will still experience the endarkenment of the land … it should be awesome
