Seriously?

It turns out that the reason I ran into trouble with WordPress the other day was because I had maxed out the storage. So I spent several hours deleting posts and media from 2009-2019 (all of which remain on my original blog), but still found myself at 98% capacity on this blog. I mean, what the actual heck?

This leaves me pondering what to do going forward as I don’t care to go from $100 per year to $300 per year in order to get more storage on this site. At first I considered moving everything back onto Blogger, but relocating five years worth of posts would require a significant effort. However, I am seriously considering returning to Blogger for future posting.

Therefore, please bear with me as I try various iterations of how best to manage both blogs going forward.

  1. Liz~ Aw, man! This blog/online/internet stuff is just wild lately. If you return to Blogger, can’t you just link it back to WordPress and leave WordPress as is? It isn’t to hard to click over to an old/new site and is so worth it to continue the journey with you 🙂 Whatever you do…keep us posted (haha – get it?!) Nancy

    1. I think that’s what I’m going to end up doing, but I confess that I seriously considered moving everything back to Blogger just so I could have the satisfaction of not paying WordPress any longer.

As for keeping you all posted (ha!), that I will most certainly do.

          1. Liz~ I’ve yet to figure out how to NOT be beholden to some of the big guys at this point. Picking battles?

          2. I try to choose better when there’s a choice … Michael’s over Hobby Lobby, “free” Blogger over “pay-to-play” WordPress, whole foods around the perimeter of the grocery store over engineered foods in the middle aisles, cloth napkins over paper, air drying over electric drying (which I don’t miss a bit), thrift store cloth or hand-dyed cloth over fabric store cloth … and so it goes (it was challenging to create this list without getting political … ha!)

          3. Liz~ I love your list and do almost all of the same things! Except, I really like my clothes dried fluffy (it’s a sensory thang!), not stiff and I have no place to air dry anyway. Also, I’m happy to say I’ve never stepped foot in a hobby lobby. I was just told yesterday that they are no longer carrying ANY Hanukkah items. WTHeck? Nancy

  2. Oh Liz that is awful! We are boring and have stayed with Blogger since we started and despite some moments, it is still hanging in there. I hope you find a resolution so you can still find all your beautiful posts and memories. Damn them.

    1. I daresay I wish I had stuck it out on Blogger … fortunately, I’ve continued to keep the original blog going, so it shouldn’t be too bad to head back there if need be.

  3. Wow! That seems crazy and so annoying. A quilter I used to follow on WordPress stopped blogging because she ran out of space too. I just found you so I am very sad that this happening to you.

  4. I ran out of space and upgraded to business. I’m probably gonna run out of space again and what, I wonder happens when I stop paying for the upgrade? Will these just delete posts until it’s scaled back to the free level?I’ve been following (sort of — the technical computer stuff is waaaay over my head) a Reddit thread about WordPress. People are outraged at recent changes by owner. Course it’s WordPress.org so I dont know if it impacts us.

    1. Thanks for the back story … I’m going to try exporting the WordPress blog as a backup and see what happens when I add them to Blogger. The tricky part will be what will happen to links to posts within the blog, to comments, and to image sizing. If it all works, I’ll delete everything from WordPress, revert to free and continue to write posts there on my iPhone (my main reason for switching away from Blogger was its terrible iPhone interface). Then move each post over to Blogger to publish. Fingers crossed.
