Life is good (an ongoing title choice)

It took three log cabin blocks to fit all the colors I wanted to use …

Now all that’s left to do are the final rows of quilting, which should be finished today … although I may add more stitching just for the heck of it.

And there’s good news from Don’s garden …

We’ve decided the tomatoes do better ripening inside on the windowsill rather than roasting on the vine in the Texas heat.

Last, but far from least, we got to spend lots of time with these great kids while their dad was out of town on business (I’ll bet you can figure out where he went) …

So yeah, life is incredibly good.

  1. How lovely to see such a beautiful happy family! It occurred to me that I like seeing a child with a stack of books 🙂 Baseball, a fun cups game and pure silliness…can’t get much better!

  3. OMG Liz, your grands are growing up way too fast. They look like they are having a blast with you and Don. And your yard looks fantastic as do those ripening tomatoes. Enjoy!

    1. everything seems to grow faster these days … the littlest is about to move from childcare to pre-K and the oldest is going to middle school next year … as for the yard, we have had above-average rainfall this spring, and it shows!

    1. Texas sun and ample rain have helped a lot, but Don said he also planted the tomatoes with a crab/lobster shell mix (5-0-0), and gives them a monthly dose of Happy Frog veggie fertilizer (5-7-3) … he uses liquid seaweed on the container herbs, but nothing at all on the plants in the rest of the garden, which are all natives (except for the dward pomegranate)

  5. Love all of it…colors, tomatoes, joyful children. 🙂 I have tomato blossoms, that’s really good for here and I am excited!

    1. We “cheated” a little by potting tomato plants early in February … Don put them outside each day and brought them in at night, so they had a huge head start by the time we passed the last-freeze date in March … the triple digit temps have already arrived, so I don’t know how productive the current flowers will be, but we’ve got lots of green tomatoes which will take us through June at the very least
