So yeah, the good news is that tomatoes come in early in Texas … the bad news is that Don is outside right now putting up shade cloth because the temps are forecast to be in the 90s all week … and will stay in that range for the rest of the summer, which will last well into October … which means that future flowers will be duds and the existing tomatoes will all ripen and be gone within a month … but at least we’ll get to try for a second season in what everyone north of us calls autumn 😉

    1. We just flew to St Louis to see the grandkiddos … brought two just-ripe tomatoes through the TSA security line packed in a 48 ounce oatmeal container that I fished out of the recycling bin … it was the only thing wide enough to hold them

    1. We’ve had everything from BLTs to shakshuka, and lots of salads of course … sadly, the triple digit heat has cooked the tomatoes on the vine, so we’re pretty much done … but it was a lovely month of eating
