Steady progress

I thought I’d show you the other side of the sea for a change …

Which is to say, 1.5’ done (on the left) and 3.5’ to go (on the right). I’ve already used up two full skeins of Deb’s thread so I’m happier than usual that I have a substantial stash on hand.

And in a wonderful bit of serendipity, Amanda made a comment yesterday that coincided with two screen shots I took on Sunday …

I love synchronicity!

Meanwhile, I’ve been trying to get back into walking around the neighborhood. The ajuga is blooming and the butterflies are on the wing …

I’m hoping the neighborhood trees that were damaged by the ice storm can recover …

Fortunately things aren’t all bad …

And I’m thankful for neighbors who give me good reasons to smile …

  1. Liz~ It is feeling more and more sea-like the more you stitch. Adding the ocean pics doesn’t hurt either! It is windy there, yes? It is slightly windy here and raining again. At least it is a soft, light rain this time. Those poor trees! It must be something to see. It is mind-boggling how Austin could have lost so many trees! I love that they just continue on, blooming.
And those stickers! haha There used to be a car like that where I lived years ago. I always tried to read some of them, but never got to all of them!

    1. the feel of it in hand is a joy … and using Deb’s thread makes it that much better

this was the first time seeing the car, so I’m thinking it must belong to a visitor … but yeah, it’s windy here, so I should probably be more mindful of loose branches while I’m walking

  2. LA – As you say – crazy times with the weather and the damage it does; and yet nature does beautiful repairs and things. Glad you are getting to walk the hood again. That car with all the stickers is just out there – hopefully they are positive stickers. Go well. B

    1. good point about the bumper stickers as there are all too many negative ones out there these days … but yes, these were positive and some quite “humerus” (to quote one of them)

  3. Every single year, buds on trees, emerging, bursting forth. They just get me and make me sit in wonder and thrilll, that theses cycles keep on keeping on despite all that we mess up around them.

  4. Poor trees. I hope they can pick up again. Love the Judas Tree too. Our neighbour has one and it’s stunning when it’s doing its thing.

    1. it will be interesting to see how they heal themselves … the danger here in Texas is a contagion called oak wilt, a fungus that is propagated by beetles that carry the spores from tree to tree in warm weather … everyone’s fingers are crossed that the trees will heal sufficiently to resist the fungus come spring

      1. It’s horrid what’s about. I remember losing all our elm trees in the ‘70’s. Skylines have never been the same. We has Ash dieback, acute Oak decline and Horse Chestnut bleeding canker. They don’t need the weather beating them too 😔
