Pair one of two

July 26-27, 2021

I’m waiting to hear from the South Carolina rental agency in hopes that they can connect me with the artist who painted these two pieces at our Folly Beach vacation house …

In the meantime, I now have my own version as a memory holder.

As to the second patch, I’ve had maps on my mind of late and had asked my brother and sister-in-law if they could send a photo of a Shelter Island map made by my grandfather. They kindly sent not one, but two printed copies of this Shelter Island drawing from 1966, when I was 10 …

As an added bonus, they also sent this cartoon/map of the Catskills drawn by my grandfather in 1939, when my mom was 8 …

which has an equally tongue-in-cheek map, also penned in 1939, as noted in Deb G’s blog post about the same book …

I do love serendipity …

I especially like the piece as it reminds me of a trip to Galveston when we had red fish for dinner after taking a boat tour of the harbor.

The second patch is a simple but sweet memory of sitting outside Meg’s house in the early evening, watching the mother wren feeding her chicks as the kids played in the yard …

Between the trees and the slightly overcast sky, there was no moon to be seen …

June 21, 2021 – No moon

but she was indeed pointing right where it should have been, had it been visible …

Clever child …
