and so it went …

July 1-3, 2021

Time flies when you’re having fun and this week was no exception. The kids had a blast together and the magnetic tiles came out more than once. Since Ellis is still in deconstruct as often as building mode, G reconstructed his tower several times over …

Friday was saddle-up-to-leave day, but we made one last stop at Allen’s Boots before heading to the airport

And then, in the blink of an eye, they were gone …

Except not … because it wasn’t enough for Southwest to mess up Heather and Logan’s arrival … they messed up their departure, too! So while Don drove back to the airport to pick them up, I broke down the Cowboy Camp and set the stage for some impromptu overnight glamping.

No pictures (yet), but we did do a little shopping in downtown Buda where Lo found some awesome jeans at a little boutique …

Process notes: I’m not sure if the July 1 patch well remain as is … the cloth is from a super sheer cotton skirt that I pleated and patched into tiny squares …

But after seeing Jude’s post, I’m thinking I might try something different.

That sweet pink cloth was a gift from Tina … who coincidentally sent a comment yesterday just as I was stitching the red boot appliqué. And as I looked up Tina’s Instagram URL, I had to laugh when I saw her most recent post …

  1. Looks like everyone is set to go and do some “boot scooting!”. Love Parker’s red boots, especially with her pink dress. I can just see her in a line dance!

When we lived in Texas, I was so tempted to get a pair of boots but I wanted solid green leather boots and never found them. Felt if I was going to go to the Broken Spoke, one of Texas’s oldest dance halls, I needed to have boots but never found them and never danced at the Broken Spoke. Rich did have a great pair of boots for many years. Years ago on a business trip to Fort Worth, Texas, when we lived in California, Rich went to check out a used computer for purchase from a Western store. (When Rich quit working as a computer salesman for a national computer company, he started a company selling refurbished computers, accounting software packages and technical services) The owner of the Western store thought that Rich had given him such a fair offer for his computer that he turned around and gave Rich a deal on a pair of boots…gorgeous bronzed leather hand tooled boots that looked exceptionally cool when Rich would wear them with his suits! And in case you were wondering, even though he had a great pair of boots, he never went line dancing or boot scooting- not his thing…now I would have gladly worn his boots for a chance to dance but I wear a size 7 and his boots were size 12!

  2. Yep…magnetic tiles! Those made someone a ton of $ for sure! They are such a huge hit at work. Sad to say your family coming for a visit is a joy to watch, but also a bit nerve wracking. CA is seeing covid rates go up in children as they return to school, new vaccination mandate today…sorry to put that here, top of the mind right now.
Sooo…did she get the boots?! I’m rooting for that because I have such a soft spot for little girls and red cowboy boots. Marti Style: When my daughter was in kindergarten, she fell in love with a pair of red Kenny Rogers boots. She ended up getting them and wore them for two years, wearing holes in the toes. She wore them with everything, everywhere! Velvet Holiday dress & red boots, Brownie uniform & red boots, Jean shorts while caring for her pet chicken & red boots! She was just the girl who could pull this off. She was adorable, like Parker 🙂
Does Tina blog? I always see her name and read her words and wonder. I went to her Instagram…amazing! I could get lost for hours, if the “you must log in to continue” message didn’t come up! lol
Another fine and full post here!

    1. We bought the somewhat less expensive version … the tiles have given us all many many hours of fun

And our visit was in the blink of time between vaccines becoming widely available and the current surge due to those who refused them … I’m so glad we seized the day

Last, having seen a picture of your daughter in her embroidered cowgirl shirt, I can well imagine her in red boots!

  3. LA – you must be so full of joy to have had the visitors – but if it were me I’d also be so exhausted. The children seemed to work together and the older to have patience with the younger. And those red boots at the end – such a joy. Go well and recharge. B

  4. Go girl with those boots! I also love the look of those magnetic tiles- I have never seen them before. What a merry bunch of making you have had – remembering all the fun all over again!
