The garden is now producing big time, so most every meal features tomatoes …
Even these simple scrambled eggs were elevated into something special …
Of course, we’re not the only ones eating from the garden …
but talk about inspiration for a patch!
And lest I forget, Meg’s Basil Vinaigrette has been an amazing accompaniment. No pictures, but trust me, this recipe is awesome!

I’m wondering… do you still use a half-eaten, holey basil leaf? I’m never sure if I should or not.

well, I had so much basil that I could let the hole-y leaves go … but honestly, it’s just more protein, right?

Lucky that I have had dinner because I swear I could reach right in and eat your red tomato with green basil leaf patch! We put basil on many foods, I love tomato sandwiches on crusty bread slathered with olive oil and then basil leaves on top of the tomatoes. Pesto is one of my most favorite pasta toppings. I throw basil leaves into salads and we even put basil leaves in lemonade. The basil in lemonade is not my idea; years ago I watched Giada De Laurentiis do this on the Food Network and have been hooked on this ever since.

for whatever reason, pesto does not appeal to me … but this vinaigrette I could drink it’s so good

this is absolutely ruining me … don’t know what I’ll do when the summer heat wipes out the tomato plants, but meantime we’ll eat them every day
