Meliss called on Monday, a day earlier than usual. Her husband Jake is in the process of moving to a new office and she was detailing everything that needed to be done before next week’s opening.
“What if your dad comes up to give you a hand?” I generously offered.
After all, I got to fly up solo in March to celebrate Logan’s birthday, it only seemed fair to let Don have a chance to see everyone. I’m so thoughtful that way. And the truth is, I also had (and still have) a miserable cold, so going up in a plane was about the last thing I wanted to do.
My offer was quickly accepted and a look at our Southwest credit card points revealed that we had enough accumulated for Don to fly up to St. Louis and back for “free.” So off he went first thing Tuesday morning …

leaving me to happily patch together a memory …
P.S. Don got to witness the Walker method of tooth extraction, which involves a willing six-year-old, some string, and a remote control patrol car …
I guess that’s what comes of having a mom who’s training to be a nurse 😉

How delighted the grand boys must be to have their Pop Pop with them. And I have to say that the Walker method of tooth extraction is highly original; using such a special “extractor” was sure to bring a smile and it did!

PopPop is equally delighted … he bought sketch pads the first day there and they spent the evening drawing pictures of the fireplace

and now the news that masks are no longer recommended for fully vaccinated folks … that’s going to take some getting used to

(((Liz))) love your abstraction of the SouthWest colours, one of the funniest airlines I have ever had the pleasure to fly with!

my all-time favorite Southwest story was the flight attendant who sang the FAA regulated “speech” at the beginning of the flight

No doubt Don is enjoying and so are the St Louis family. Ah, I remember wiggling those baby teeth when I was a kid 🧑🏻

My mom always tells the story about making sure her grandfather didn’t know about loose teeth…his proposed solution was to tie a string between the tooth and a door knob and slam the door! 🙂 The bright colors of the patch capture what must have been/is being a happy adventure.

I recall my grandfather threatening much the same thing … I suspect it was a (very effective) way to get out of having anything to do with tooth pulling … ha!
