April 29, 2021 – One last patch of weeding

As I looked at all the unpatched days in April I realized the thing many of the days had in common, in addition to tending our home turf …

was helping out in Meg’s yard. So my cheater solution for getting through the month was making green and brown patches to stand in for the weeds we pulled and the mulch we turned.

A whole week’s worth of patches in one post!

  1. LA – there are times when what we do is the ordinary and mundane activities of life; and these too are part of the patch record as they should be. Great to celebrate these ordinary moments particularly those done as family and with love. B

    1. Don and I have a very convenient division of yard labors: I mostly weed and prune, while he is more about planting and nurturing growth

  2. Oh I love this!!! What a brilliant solution and also brilliant recording – weeding weeding weeding, we all feel that relentlessness at times!

  3. Yes…what Barry & Fiona said!
And that first patch: Herbal Essence had me thinking of that shampoo from my youth! Ah, it smelled so good!

  4. YAY to the assorted herbs in pots; what a happy and tasty sight. Will you be making an herb patch? Basil would be lovely to see duplicated, all that clumpy green on a brownish patch, as would a patch devoted to your red watering can that will get a good workout in the Texas heat…not that I’m telling you what to put on your patches! I just love planting herbs, using them and seeing them in other gardens.

    1. I love having the herbs in containers by the back door … very convenient for cooking! Don is planning a native plant garden for the beds on either side of the raised vegetable garden … I’ll have to do a post on the current state of affairs as things have grown considerably since the picture taken in April!

P.S. You won’t be surprised to learn that our cilantro and dill are already bolting … fortunately, Don has grown new plants from seed to replace them

    1. I don’t think our kids can quite believe that we actually like weeding …. and I have to laugh, because we just finished weeding Meg’s front yard and now the back yard needs doing again … perpetual play
