Meg’s mug

April 9, 2021 – Friday morning coffee date

Every other Friday, our daughter Meg comes over to work while her house is being cleaned. And while I know she most likely won’t appreciate these candid photos …

I love that they capture her focus, her multitasking, and the ease she finds in simply being here “at home” with us.

A bit of hand-dyed muslin from our former Hill Country house was the perfect match for the Buck Pottery mug from The Barn in Gruene …

seen here on a rare rainy day when I was stitching instead of yardening.

Process note: the stitching was a freehand mix of Jude’s split backstitch, running stitch and glue stitch worked variously with one or two strands of variegated thread …

following the dye-lines in the cloth …

I just wish Meliss could live close by, too …

  1. You’ve brought back feelings & memories of how good it felt to go/be ‘at home’ at my folks house, then condo. Even though I never lived at the condo, there was still that feeling. I miss that. Those thread colors are great.

    1. I used to make solo visits to my folks’ house when our kids were, well, kids … usually once a year for a weekend … sadly, more often as their health began to fail

    1. this thread line is fun to work with … although they are two-tone and more regular than Deb’s wild threads, I do like their pairings

    1. finding scraps of cloth that match the vision in my head had become more and more challenging … I guess I should make a patch to celebrate finally organizing the smallest bits by color to make them more accessible
