How it’s going

March 10, 2021 – Lolo’s 17th birthday

I’m now two weeks out from the Remember 2021 patches for March 4th and 5th. And I’m okay with that.

I’ve been keeping a record of days and patch ideas and have no inclination to catch up with them in any particular order …

I’ll just stitch them as the spirit moves me and put the date they correspond to in the caption for each completed patch.

Today’s patch was stitched with the leftover bits and pieces of the bagua mini-quilt I made for Logan’s 17th birthday

The bits were too small to make into a mini nine-patch, even with a finished patch size of 1.75″ …

so I appliquéd tiny squares to a piece of plain white cotton and satin stitched around the edges, intentionally varying the stitch lengths to make the forms more organic.

As always, I like the B-side …

and find myself taking great pleasure in being perfectly imperfect.

  1. I love how you are relaxing into this ongoing project. Beautiful little fuzzy blocks! I awoke with 9-patch on my mind. Sue got me singing, The stitch (beat) goes on! lol

  2. (((Liz))) your squares look so delicious they remind me of this favourite quote from Maurice Sendak;
    “Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”

  3. LA – may we always strive to be perfectly imperfect – that way we will always move ahead and grow. Wishing you much joy. B
