Paper (1st of 2 posts)

I’ve been drawn to paper lately (and yes, that pun was intended).

First it was that watercolor class with Nan Henke (hmmm, I seem not to have posted about that), then collaging with Acey, and now …

Crayons! Thanks to a workshop at our new public library …

The hour flew by …

And we won some really cool crayons in a random drawing …

Which was crazy, because it was all free … and yes, Don went, too …

And now we’ve been encouraged by the artist, Ron Gross, to play with crayons (at least) once a day for one month and to tag our creations at #crayonuary30.

Don’t worry though …

I still have plenty of stitching planned, too!

  1. CRAYONS! I love this so, so much…why do I live so darn far away! How cool that Don went too. Once when my EX and I were still just dating dating, I got two copies of this coloring book(s) of Optical Illusions. A few different times, we together chose a particular page to color. The we moved apart enough so that we couldn’t see what the other was doing…and we colored. It was so relaxing, so trip back to childhood-like. When we compared our pages, I was so fascinated to see how differently we approached it. The design looked like ‘steps’. Mine was Very Neat, Very Symmetrical. His was Not So Neat and Tidy, Far more Random and he’d broken up the spaces by using different colors (Kind of like putting a step within a step). I’ll never forget that eye-opening experience!
Plus, what I love about our community is that I can come here, pick up on an idea sparked by you…ramble on about it and that’s cool. Thanks for indulging me. 🙂 Now I wish I had all the crayons I gave away in the move!

    1. PS Your lil guy in need of stitching reminded me of my “Lamby” and “Puppy” who could use some stuffing and love. It also reminded me of a book of Lovies and their stories. I for sure have my friends, I may have the book 🙂

    1. Well, ‘twas a class that only lasted a couple of hours and the results don’t exactly make my heart sing … but I learned a lot and have been having fun making something of the resulting trials
