Jude commented the other day “they’ll be in college soon” to which I replied, “the oldest (grandchild) will be going in 2022.”
How did Logan go from so little …

to so big …

so fast?
And how did she and Eric manage to celebrate a one-year dating anniversary when they just met yesterday? Or so it seems to me.
Ah well … I had to smile when Lo’s mom texted this …

which prompted the two-part patch of one of my nana shirts combined with a red to match her dress …

From the oldest to the youngest: …

18 month old Ellis, who we went to visit on Sunday while G played baseball. As we pulled in to the driveway, I caught sight of a blue bird flying up and away. Thinking at first that it was a jay, my eye caught a flash of orange …

No doubt … it was the bluebird of happiness.
And so we bid a fond farewell to the last week in February …

Mwah …

This is just great Liz! I still have a bag of clothes from the late 70’s that I don’t know what to do with, but can’t let go of either. When my daughter was 3, her best buddy’s grandma supplied all of his clothing as she lived near an Osh Kosh warehouse. Well, one day while shopping in a Mervyn’s she saw a little overalls and shirt hanging on display and said, “Look mommy it’s Kyle!” It did look just like him, minus his actual body! lol
I love how each of your patches tells a story and reminds me of some of my own too.

oh, I do envy you your bag of clothes … wishing I had saved more, but it does make the few things I have all the more appreciated I suppose

Hi LA – without a doubt personal bits like favourite bits of cloth/ing and rings etc hold spirits and memories. I think it is good to find ways to repurpose them and so send them on but yet also hold them. B

love your abstracted bluebird of happiness! and re the time flying, at the turn of this century when there was a boho revivial happening fashionwise a friend’s daughter called me quaint because I still had some of my favourite old shirts from the 70’s…

This sent me to look up the definition of quaint on m-w.com and I daresay 2 and 3 especially fit you!
1a : pleasingly or strikingly old-fashioned or unfamiliar a quaint phrase
1b : unusual or different in character or appearance : odd
2a : marked by skillful design “quaint with many a device in India ink”— Herman Melville
2b : marked by beauty or elegance
3 obsolete : expert, skilled

It is crazy how fast our little ones grow up .. my 5 grandchildren range from 20 down to 4 which does not seem possible. Love how your blocks are coming along.

What a great double act that red flower patch is, and your jay/bluebird is like a shooting star in reverse. I can feel the dash and the movement from here!

I smile … the flight of the bluebird was a blur, but he kindly parked himself in a nearby Ashe juniper so I could make a positive ID
